Public Organization “South-Ukrainian Center for Intellectual Development” (UCID_Pivden) was established in 2015 in Odessa region. UCID_Pivden – is a branch of the public organization “Ukrainian Center for Intellectual Development”, with the status of a separate legal entity and its own bank account. The purpose of the UCID_Pivden is to implement the objectives of the public organization “Ukrainian Center for Intellectual Development” in the South of Ukraine.
Public Organization “Ukrainian Center of Intellectual Development” (UCID), which was founded in 2005 is a non-political public organization for professional human rights activists, lawyers, experts, researchers, it was established to represent and to protect the legitimate social, economic, creative, cultural and other common interests of the inhabitants of the Ukrainian local communities.
The purpose of the organization is to move to a new level of social activity in Ukraine with the addition of human and material assets of organizations and with the desire to attract new activists and to work with new target groups. Organization promotes in development of collaboration between organizations and citizens, interested in propaganda and expansion different directions in intellectual and elucidative activity to further an intellectual development
UCID actively participates in various EaP cross-border programs and projects. For example, as of the Ukrainian lead partners, UCID realized the project “Development of traditional crafts as a driver for SME and self-employment enhancement in the near-border communities” within Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Program (EaPTC) and EU. This project has been started in December 2017 and will be going till the February 2019.
Public Organization “South-Ukrainian Center for Intellectual Development” (UCID_Pivden) implements the following activities in the Odessa region:
– teaching young people how to protect their rights, developing a volunteer movement, supporting socially unadapted young people;
– informing SMEs on the advantages of European integration and opportunities from the Association with the EU;
– promotion of SMEs in the field of folk crafts;
– creating cross-border contacts within the BSB region;
– development of green tourism, the introduction of “green” technologies, urban planning;
– environmental education of the population;
– conducting intellectual tournaments and games.
For the last 3 years UCID_Pivden, as UCID’s partner, has successfully implemented 5 socially important projects with the support of international donors. Effects from these projects geographically cover the northern, central and southern regions of Ukraine:
1) 2017-2019. Project: “Development of traditional crafts as a driver for SME and self-employment enhancement in the near-border communities” within Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Program (EaPTC), with the support of the EU and under the control of GIZ.
2) 2016-2018. Project: “Communication without borders: support by young volunteers the victims of National Socialism in Dnepropetrovsk and Kyiv regions, communication with youth and provision of humanitarian assistance” with the support of the EVZ Foundation, Germany.
3) 2015-2016. Project: “Youth Meets History” (Kyiv, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv and Odessa regions) with the support of the EVZ Foundation, Germany (MEET UP! Program).
5) 2014 – 2015. Project: “New Business Space: The Benefits of European Integration for the Local Business Community” (Kyiv, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv and Odessa regions) with the support of the Embassy of Great Britain in Kiev.
Moreover, the organization had more than 100 intellectual games in which it has been involved over 4000 young people.
On a regular basis UCID_Pivden has 3 persons as a staff. Up to 11 people Involved in the projects. Number of volunteers is 80.
